iPhone 17 Series Update: Price Hikes for Pro & Air, But the Standard Model Delivers 🔥
Apple’s big fall event has just dropped, and the iPhone 17 series is finally here. Prices are up for the Pro and new Air models — but don’t sleep on the standard iPhone 17. It still packs serious value with fresh features that used to belong only to the Pro line.
What’s New & What’s Changed
The iPhone 17 Pro has seen a price increase of $100, now starting at about US$1,099.
And Apple has introduced a new model: the iPhone 17 Air. Sleeker, thinner (just 5.6mm), premium design, with many Pro-level features. But yep — premium price too.
Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 17 holds the line reasonably well. It still starts at US$799 with the 256 GB storage base, which is double what many expected.
Why the iPhone 17 (Standard) Looks Like a Sweet Deal
Even if you don’t upgrade to Pro or Air, the base iPhone 17 gets a lot:
Display upgrades: 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR with ProMotion (up to 120Hz refresh) and Always-On display.
Brighter & tougher: Uses Ceramic Shield 2, better scratch resistance, higher outdoor brightness.
Camera improvements: Across the iPhone 17 Pro camera system, you’ll find innovation that goes to great lengths. This includes the longest iPhone Telephoto ever, up to an equivalent 200 mm focal length, with the next generation of our tetraprism design and 56 percent larger sensor. So you can explore an even wider range of creative choices and add a longer reach to your compositions with 16x optical zoom range. And capture stunning low-light photographs and incredible video.
Dual Fusion 48MP Main + Ultra Wide, upgraded front-facing Center Stage camera (18MP) that supports wider field of view / better selfies & video.
Performance & battery: New A19 chip, better battery life , Battery Full charge in 20 minutes— Apple claims up to 30 hours of video playback.
So while the Pro/Pro Max and Air are appealing for their extras (telephoto zoom, premium materials, etc.), the standard model is no slouch. It’s got many Pro features without the top-tier price tag.
What to Watch Out For
If you want serious zoom (8× telephoto, optical quality), Pro/Pro Max are still the champs.
The Air is ultra-thin, stylish, but sacrifices some battery life compared to Pro. And obviously costs more.
Regional pricing matters: what you pay in the U.S. will differ a lot from what you pay in markets like India or Pakistan, once taxes, duties, import costs are involved. In India, for example, standard iPhone 17 starts at ~ ₹82,900. Pro and Pro Max are much higher.
The Bottom Line
If you’ve been eyeing the iPhone 17, and you mostly care about camera, display, build quality, and battery — the standard model gives you huge upgrades for a relatively fair price. The Pro/Pro Max/Air are great if you want those extra perks, but for many users the value is in the mid-tier.
